I’m a student at SFA wondering if college students qualify for food stamps.
In the pursuit of a better life for my three precious children I find myself in the precarious position of being a part-time student and a struggling single mother. The struggle to provide for my children's needs has led me to seek assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps. However, the process of receiving these benefits has been a consistent source of mental exhaustion, frustration, and disrespect. This is to shed light on the difficulties faced by individuals like myself and emphasize the urgent need for a resolution to these challenges. Receiving SNAP benefits has become an arduous journey, marked by endless phone calls, providing and sending information, and persistent pleading. The system's complexity and inefficiency have left me mentally drained. I have dedicated countless hours to navigate the bureaucracy, only to find myself in a dire situation where I now owe SNAP benefits $1700.00 due to their error in overcharging me. This financial burden adds to the already overwhelming responsibility of providing for my children.
