HHSC Benefits Office- Highway 6 Details
The SNAP benefit allows low-income individuals to purchase nutritious food at authorized grocery stores and other retailers. Alcoholic beverages, pet food, tobacco and other non-food items cannot be purchased with the SNAP benefit. The SNAP benefit is put on the Lone Star Card and can be used just like a credit card at any location that accepts SNAP. It is also possible to purchase food items online from authorized retailers such as Walmart, Aldi, Amazon and H-E-B.

I received a phone call from your office this morning. I do not have a SNAP card, I have not applied for a SNAP card, nor do I live anyplace close to Houston. The call sounds like a scam.
Do I need to come in and make an appointment? And what kind of documents do I need to have to bring in?
