Albany County DSS Details
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, assists low-income households purchase nutritious food at authorized grocery stores and other retailers. Individuals must apply for this program and provide all the required documentation. If approved, recipients receive an electronic benefit card (EBT), which is similar to a debit card. The SNAP benefit is provided monthly directly into the EBT card.

- Based on household size and age
- Level of income and type of income
- Expenses (utility, medical, etc.)
- Other factors
Documentation required:
- Identification/Citizenship or Alien Status
- Income for all household members (This includes income from wages, and unearned income sources such as unemployment benefits, child support, social security benefits, etc.)
- Address and shelter expenses (Proof of how much rent/mortgage is paid, property and school taxes, home owners insurance, etc.)
- Student Status (Required for students age 16 and older)
- Dependent Care Expenses (Proof of how much is paid for day care)
- Other required documentation

want to know if food stamps were approved had phone interview over a week ago and told them I need a card I no longer had one and have not received any notice or anything you can call me at 5188796248 because I don't always have access to computer thank you lori giunta
I submit snap recertifications but I don’t receive any mail saying if you need any addition documents or whether if you receive it .
I haven't received any cash for my SNAP card this month.
I would like to close out my food stamp case.
