Browning Field Office Details
The Mission of the Human and Community Services Division of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services is to support the strengths of families and communities by promoting employment and providing the help they need to help families and individuals meet basic needs and work their way out of poverty.
The department provides cash assistance, employment training, supplemental food aid, Medicaid, child care, meal allowance, nutrition training, energy assistance, weathering, and other services to help families get out of poverty and toward self-help.
Cash assistance is funded by a federal grant called Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
The program provides monthly payments to low-income families and children who meet the standards for income and resource eligibility.
The Work Readiness Component provides employment and training services for people receiving cash assistance.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program provides benefits to eligible families to supplement their food budget and increase their ability to buy healthy food.
A SNAP Nutrition Education, operated in conjunction with Montana State University, teaches participants how to use their food assistance benefits wisely.
