    The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, is a federally funded program that assists low-income households purchase nutritious food at authorized grocery stores and other retailers. Individuals must apply for this program and provide all the required documentation.  If approved, recipients receive an electronic benefit card (EBT), which is similar to a debit card. The SNAP benefit is provided monthly directly into the EBT card. Amount of SNAP benefit is based on household size, income and other factors.


    Eligibility:

    • Social security numbers
    • Proof of residence 
    • Proof of alien status 
    • Proof of earned Income and unearned Income 
    • Proof of child care expenses if applicable
    • Proof of medical expenses if applicable 
    • Additional documentation pertinent to program guidelines might be requested


    Eligible Purchases:

    • Breads and cereals
    • Fruits and vegetables
    • Meats, fish and poultry
    • Dairy products
    • Seeds and plants which produce food for the household to eat


    Ineligible Purchases (SNAP benefits cannot be used for):

    • Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco
    • Any nonfood items, such as: pet foods, soaps, paper products, household supplies, vitamins and medicines
    • Food that will be eaten in the store
    • Prepared or hot foods

      my food stamps case was closed im on ssd I dont work what is the problem im almost 70 I need my stamps and the phone system is no help

      I got a letter which says that I have to submit additional documents for my Food Stamps case. it says that I can bring these documents in person to the office. But when I came to your office - it's closed. Will the FAX be working? Who then will pick up documents from FAX machine? Or if I mail my papers? I do not want my case closed because there is no way I can submit additional paperwork Please advise Thank you

      The matter is that I am on recertification stage for SNAP. I sent recertification application and all needed documents to the address you gave me, also I sent application via FAX. After that I've got the letter from your office with recommendation to get the phone interview. I tried, but no result. The call for interview does not work. Your office all time is closed. What to do ?

      I sent in my Recertifercation and haven't recied a letter yet on if I was approve or not.
