    The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, is part of a federal nutrition program that helps qualifying low-income households purchase nutritious food.

    Individuals must apply for the program and provide all the required documentation. Individuals can apply online, via US Mail and through the drop-off boxes located at the office.After the application is filed, the individual must have a telephone interview with a case worker and be prepared to answer questions related to the household situation.

    The amount of benefit provided is based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household. SNAP benefits are issued monthly on the Hawaii Electronic Benefit Transfer (Hi/EBT) card. This EBT card can be used just like a debit card at authorized grocery stores and food retailers.

      Once a SNAP recipient moves to a care home, who terminates the SNAP Card? Can the recipient use the remaining funds?

      I applied for Snap here in Honolulu, I was on Snap in Hilo. Haven't heard back from you.
