Mountain Home Department of Health and Welfare Details
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, is part of a federal nutrition program that helps qualifying low-income households purchase nutritious food in order to stay healthy.
Individuals must apply for the program and provide all the required documentation. After the application is filed, the individual must have a telephone interview with a case worker and be prepared to answer questions related to the household situation.
The amount of benefit provided is based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household. SNAP benefits are issued monthly on the Idaho Electronic Benefit Transfer (ID/EBT) card. This EBT card can be used just like a debit card at authorized grocery stores and food retailers.
SNAP recipients can also purchase groceries online at Walmart and Amazon Pantry. Individuals must pick us their grocery order as delivery fees cannot be paid using SNAP benefits.
