Burt County Local DHHS Office Details
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, mostly known as SNAP, helps low-income individuals and/or households in purchasing food products to improve their nutritional needs. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, pet food, paper products, and other non-food items cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits.
When approved, amount of SNAP benefits will be put on an EBT card, which works just like a debit card and is accepted at authorized grocery stores and other retailers. The amount of benefits depends on household size, income, expenses, and other criteria relevant to program guidelines.
Note:
After individuals are approved for SNAP benefits, EBT cards are sent via U.S. mail. It is imperative for individuals to be registered through the U.S. Postal Services.
