    The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, mostly known as SNAP, assists low-income individuals/families in purchasing nutritious food. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, paper products, pet foods, vitamins, medication, and other non-food products cannot be purchased. Amount of benefit depends on household size, income, monthly expenses, and other criteria.

    Once approved, the benefit amount is put on an EBT card, which is just like a debit card. EBT cards are accepted at authorized grocery stores and other retailers.
