    The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, helps low-income individuals/families purchase nutritious food. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, pet food, paper products, vitamins, and other non-food items cannot be purchased. The amount of SNAP benefits varies depending on household size, income, expenses, and other criteria.

    SNAP benefits are provided via EBT card, which works just like a debit card, and is accepted at authorized grocery stores, supermarkets, and other retailers. EBT cards are mailed directly to approved recipients via U.S. mail.
