Puerto Rico replaced the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program with this program.
Eligibility requirements and benefit amounts are determined by Puerto Rico.
In Puerto Rico, 75% of nutrition assistance benefits are paid in cash for food purchases at authorized retail stores and 25% are paid in cash for food purchases at authorized and non-authorized retail stores through the Commonwealth's electronic benefit transfer system.
To qualify, you must reside in Puerto Rico, and you may have resources savings accounts, bank accounts, etc. up to $2,000.
Households with a person who is 60 years or older or is completely disabled can have up to $3,000 in resources.
Households in Puerto Rico must meet the net income limit, which varies depending on the number of people in the household.
Net income is calculated by subtracting deductions for the total income of the household, including the type of income, type of household member, and certain allowable expenses.
