The eligibility requirements and the amounts of benefits are determined by Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico provides 75 percent of the nutritional assistance benefits for the purchase of food from certified retailers and 25 percent in cash for the purchase of food from certified and uncertified retailers through the Commonwealth's electronic benefit transfer system.
Households with a person who is 60 years or older or is completely disabled can have up to $3,000 in resources.
Households in Puerto Rico must meet a net income limit that varies according to the number of people in the household.
The net income is calculated by taking the total amount of the household income and subtracting deductions by type of income, type of household members and some eligible expenses.
